Service Opportunities

Our congregation is very involved in reaching out to needs in our community and our world.  Service Opportunities in our local Milan area include:

  • Our backpack program will be continuing weekly through July. We are grateful to be able to help 60 food insecure students in the Edison Local School District know they will have nutritious food to eat each weekend

  • On-going work with the Milan Area Salvation Army and Food Pantry.

  • Community Vacation Bible School for all children in the Milan area.

  • The Abigail Pregnancy Center.

  • The Oasis Tent at the Milan Melon Festival, providing cold water, shade, a place to sit down, and hospitality at Milan’s biggest annual event.

  • The Angel Tree, helping needy area families provide Christmas gifts for their children.

  • Support for OGO Christmas gift boxes

Service Opportunities beyond our local area include

  • Mission trips within the state of Ohio, and national and international trips.  In recent years mission trips have included a work mission to the Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota; a work mission to the SOWER Mission Project in Bethesda, Ohio, helping the disadvantaged with construction and painting projects; mission trips to Kursk, Russia, to Puerto Rico, working on hurricane relief efforts, and medical mission trips to Liberia, Africa and Nicaragua, Central America.

In addition, we support a variety of National and International Mission projects with financial gifts made with love and prayer, including special gifts to:

  • Villages of Hope in Zambia, Africa, providing 12 bicycles for their ministry.

  • United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) for national and international relief efforts

  • E3 Partners, an international evangelism ministry

  • Flat Rock Homes, Flat Rock, Ohio, serving developmentally disabled individuals and their families

  • The Souper Bowl of Caring on Super Bowl Sunday, providing gifts for local food pantry needs.
